Relationship between knowledge, attitude and practice of adults to the National Health Insurance Scheme and their health seeking behaviour in Unguwar soya, Kabong ward of Jos north LGA, Plateau state-Nigeria

Background: Health seeking behaviour includes all those associated with establishing and retaining a healthy state, plus aspects of dealing the departure from that which can generally be improved by health care financing insurance. The objective study was to evaluate knowledge, attitude practice National Insurance Scheme (NHIS) people Unguwar soya community its relationship their behaviour.Methods: one cross sectional based descriptive carried out using multi stage sampling process in community, Plateau Nigeria. An interviewer administered structured questionnaire utilized 252 eligible respondents for period 3 months (September-November, 2019).Results: Majority were aged 20-29 years (33.7%), females (63.5%), majority earning above 30,000 naira (25.8%). Most (59.5%) had heard about NHIIS. (70.7%) good towards NHIS desire enroll under (70.3%), mostly because Subsidization cost. Only 13.3% are registered NHIS. most population visit chemist shops when ill (31.2%), however, enrollees go hospitals seek care. None enrolled centers, pharmacies, home workers. 90.1% agreed will improve if NHIS.Conclusions: Index has inadequate awareness low also long run impact on residents community.
